What We Do

At the Ramadan Eid Program, our mission extends beyond financial aid; we aim to foster a sense of community, joy, and belonging among refugees in Dallas. Our activities are designed to not only distribute zakat in accordance with Islamic principles but also to bring smiles, offer relief, and create lasting memories for families from Afghanistan, Burma, and other affected regions. Here’s how we bring our mission to life:

Zakat Distribution

We believe in the power of zakat to uplift those in need. Our process begins with the meticulous collection of zakat funds, followed by a thoughtful distribution system. We work closely with local community leaders and organizations to identify families most in need. Each family is verified through ID to ensure the zakat reaches the right hands, maintaining the dignity and respect of all involved. The amount distributed is based on the total funds collected and the size of each family, ensuring fairness and transparency in our approach.

Gift Bags and Personal Touches

Our gift bags are filled with love and care, tailored to bring joy to families and especially children during the holy month of Ramadan. Volunteers come together to assemble these bags, which include essentials, treats, and personalized Eid cards. These cards, written by our volunteers, add a personal touch, making each recipient feel seen and valued.

Family Fun Day

The highlight of our Ramadan activities is the Family Fun Day, a vibrant event filled with games, arts and crafts, henna artistry, and delicious food. It's a day of joy, laughter, and community bonding. Families can enjoy a variety of activities designed to celebrate the cultural diversity of our community and the spirit of Eid. As the day unfolds, we distribute food packages that families can take home, ensuring they have a hearty meal to break their fast. This gathering is not just about fun; it's a platform for refugees to connect, share their stories, and find support within the community.

Our Approach to Community Building

In partnership with local organizations, we identify refugees from Afghanistan, Burma, and other areas affected by conflict or hardship. Our goal is to reach those who are most in need, providing not just financial support but also a sense of belonging and community. Through our zakat distribution, gift bags, and the Family Fun Day, we strive to address immediate needs while also fostering long-term connections and resilience among the families we serve.
